Santa Fe, N.M. - Today, New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis announced that the series "The Unsettling" produced by AwesomenessTV will begin principal photography late April through the beginning of June in Santa Fe and Lamy. Santa Fe, N.M. - New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis announced today that a portion of “The Goldfinch,” the highly anticipated film adaption of Donna Tartt’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, will be filmed in Albuquerque, from early April through mid-April in Albuquerque. The film is from Warner Bros. Pictures, in association with Amazon Studios. Production on the episode, which will utilize both first and second unit crews, will continue through March before returning to Los Angeles. Receive a 25% Refundable Film Tax Credit on all direct production expenditures (including New Mexico resident crew) that are subject to taxation by the State of New Mexico. Receive a 30% Refundable Film Production Tax Credit for qualifying television series with a order of six (6) or more episodes. For other types of productions, receive the 25% plus 5% Film Credit on all resident off-camera crew wages and fringes when production uses a qualifying production facility (e.g. sizable sound stage) for a minimum of 10 or 15 days of principal photography (based on budget size). Expenditures for post production services rendered in New Mexico that are subject to taxation in the State of the New Mexico will also qualify. Eligible productions include feature films, independent films, television, regional and national commercials, documentaries, animation, video games, webisodes, mobile applications and post-production, intended for commercial exploitation and exhibition. Non-resident actors and on-camera stunt performers may also qualify (see “Super Loan Out”.) The production company must file a state tax or informational return to receive the credit (as a check or deposit). This tax credit is non-transferable nor assignable.

With requirements which include an approved guarantor and a signed distribution contract, loans from $500K to $15M are available to qualifying production companies through the State Investment Council. Loans shall not exceed 100% of a production’s budget. The loan is a two-year term at a fixed interest rate that is based on the National Prime Rate (as published daily in the Wall Street Journal) plus 150 basis points (1.5%).

The Film Crew Advancement Program is an incentive for production companies to assist in creating job opportunities for New Mexican film and television crew professionals. A qualifying production company is reimbursed 50% of a participant’s wages for up to 1040 hours physically worked by the qualifying crew member in a specific craft position. This on-the-job training program is in addition to the 25% film production refundable tax credit.

The State of New Mexico charges a gross receipts tax, or sales tax, at the point of sale. As an incentive, the state will issue your company Type 16 Nontaxable Transaction Certificates (NTTCs), which works much like grocery-store coupons. A certificate is presented at the point of sale and no gross receipts tax is charged. (This incentive cannot be utilized in conjunction with the 25% film production refundable tax credit.)
