Contact: Dusty McGowan (505) 681-0669; dusty0580@comcast.netSanta Fe, October 1, 2008 - Local screenwriter Dusty McGowan has launched a script consultant service for New Mexico based writers with an interest in writing for film. The service will be available for writers who have a complete draft of a screenplay and are seeking guidance in the revision process. The services offered will include a detailed critique, brainstorming sessions, and one on one counseling.
McGowan hopes that this service will encourage writers to share their voices through highly professional work. “My goal to inspire and encourage local writers to tell their own stories,” McGowan said. McGowan has extensive experience in writing for both the stage and film. He received his MFA in Dramatic Writing from the University of New Mexico. During his time in graduate school, he received the Anchorage Press Award for Young Audiences for his play Harry the Magnificent. In 2007, McGowan joined the filmmaking collective Trifecta Plus and served as co-writer on the award winning film Sweetie. This film was selected to be show at the Cannes International Film Festival in the summer of 2007. McGowan recently completed the screenwriting track of the New Mexico Filmmakers Intensive at the College of Santa Fe. He is currently in preproduction for a short film entitled Mickey. http://www.freewebs.com/dusty0580
