Santa Fe Community College’s Film Program is now accepting applications for its Advanced Film Crew intensive, a new program starting in the fall designed to help local student filmmakers turn their works-in-progress into polished works of art.
According to instructor Monique Anair, the yearlong intensive program is designed to help community members get their films made in Santa Fe. “Our students have rich stories to tell and we want to give them a place to create and develop their ideas into movies,” she explained. An information session will take place March 6 at 6 p.m., in Room 563, on the SFCC campus, 6401 Richards Ave. The yearlong Advanced Film Crew program is presented as a pair of classes (Film Crew IV and Film Crew V), each providing students with the tools, resources and guidance needed to produce, direct and complete their film or media projects. In Film Crew IV, students will work closely with film program instructors and professionals to complete their production. Participants will have access to SFCC Film Program equipment, technology and student film crews. Throughout Film Crew V, students will complete the post-production process of their projects by working closely with mentors and other students. The students will work under guidance and deadlines set by their instructors and following a public SFCC screening, they will be prompted to submit their projects into four statewide film festivals. SFCC’s film program is accepting applications for the advanced program through May 10. The program begins fall 2009. In order to qualify, students must hold a bachelor’s degree in film or media from an accredited institution, or an SFCC Film Crew certificate or Associate in Applied Science in film. Qualifying applicants will then need to submit the following: resume, reel, application, script, proposal, film treatment, preliminary budget and a $25-dollar application fee. Space is limited. Tuition is $1,667.50. For more information, email filminfo@sfccnm.edu or call (505) 428-1738. Applications are available at http://www.sfccnm.edu/programs/film/filmcrew2.
