Contact: Matt Page, Riffraff Entertainment; www.riffraffentertainment.comFebruary 26, 2009 Albuquerque, New Mexico –The winner of the 2008 Albuquerque 48 Hour Film Project, “Tinkerin” will screen at Filmapalooza at the Miami International Film Festival on the weekend of March 13. The film was made in only 48 hours by THE IN-FAMOUS EL GUAPOS, led by Matt Page. After winning the Albuquerque 48HFP event, the film is now competing against 69 other films from 15 countries on four continents for the title of Best Film of the 2008 48 Hour Film Project, which comes with a $5,000 cash prize.
Matt Page (Writer/Director), Kelly Savage (Writer/Producer) and James Green (Producer/Cinematographer) from the film team plan to attend the festival. There they will meet other 48HFP winners from around the world and will attend screenings, workshops and parties. They will also be awarded a trophy for their achievement on Saturday, March 14. The In-Famous El Guapos shot their film in Tinker Town, a museum on the Turquoise Trail in Albuquerque, created by Ross Ward (who passed away in 2002) and owned and operated by Carla Ward. The museums website explains “It took Ross Ward over 40 years to carve, collect, and lovingly construct what is now Tinkertown Museum. His miniature wood-carved figures were first part of a traveling exhibit, driven to county fairs and carnivals in the 1960s and '70s. Today over 50,000 glass bottles form rambling walls that surround a 22-room museum. Wagon wheels, old fashioned store fronts, and wacky western memorabilia make Tinkertown's exterior as much as a museum as the wonders within.” The film stars Ravenna Fahey, Christopher Dempsey and Hugh Elliot and features music by Santa Fe musician Joe West. This is the first 48 hour film project for the filmmakers.
