Profile:

The Pueblo of Zuñi the largest of all the Pueblos in New Mexico was the first stop in the infamous search for the "Seven Cities of Cibola? by the Spanish in 1539. The Zuñi people are famous for their exquisite needlepoint and inlay jewelry, their beaded dolls, pottery, and weavings. One of the most awe-inspiring churches in New Mexico is the Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe (1629) mission. The interior walls of the mission depict kachina figures from Zuñi religion carrying their messages of brotherhood along with the Catholic symbols in the church. The paintings on the south wall represent spring and summer ceremonies. Those on the right (north) represent winter.
