The following information is from "The Place Names of New Mexico" by Robert Julyan; Revised Edition, University of New Mexico Press When the 1950s uranium mining boom occurred near here, this town sprang up and was incorporated in 1957. It took the name of Savador Milán, who with his wife, Veneranda Mirabal, had large land holdings here. Local pronunciation accents the second syllable. |
