The downtown section and tree-lined neighborhoods are dotted with well preserved Victorian buildings and homes. East of town is the huge open-pit copper mine at Santa Rita, and south is the Tyrone open-pit mine. In 1913, Silver City was the Western Location Headquarters for Lubin Films.
