Film Lincoln County NM, the newly formed county wide film commission, will host a film industry symposium on August 26th at the Spencer Theater. This symposium will have speakers from the State Film Office, the International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees, Screen Actor’s Guild, New Mexico Women in Film, Crew New Mexico and more. The purpose of the film industry symposium is to inform the county about the state of film making in New Mexico and how that can affect Lincoln County. This will also allow people in the industry to see what Lincoln County has to offer the film business.

The members of Film Lincoln County NM wanted to bring those who are involved in the industry to come to Lincoln County and talk about what film making does for the state. Speakers from the New Mexico State Film Office will be presenting the facts about the state’s tax incentives that are offered to the film industry and what financing is available to film makers. Other speakers will be talking about the potential for jobs in the film industry. Representatives from ENMU-Ruidoso will also be on hand to talk about the new supercomputer gateway at the University which will be available to film makers.

The symposium is on August 26th in Alto, New Mexico at the Spencer Theater, from 10am to 4 pm. Box lunches will be available for $13 but they must be paid for in advance. You can order your box lunch by calling the Spencer Theater at (575) 336-4800. The film industry symposium is open and free to the public.

Film Lincoln County NM was formed in March of this year and has a representative from each of the municipalities and one from the county itself. Currently Film Lincoln County NM is in the application process to become a member of the AFCI which is an international film liaison organization. The mission of Film Lincoln County NM is to “promote Lincoln County as a film location, and to foster the art and education of film making in Lincoln County.”
