About: MidSchoolMath is casting three young lead actors for The Unfinished Atlas, a story-driven film series for a new Algebra 1 course used in middle school classrooms nationwide. It's shot on location across New Mexico October 13 - 24. The shoot encompasses 18 different 3-Act Story problems encountered across the arc of a road trip.
The story: three teenage friends have seen the whole world in math class but have never actually been anywhere. When one of them buys a beat-up 1973 Chevy Suburban, they find a bundle of old road maps in the glove box, covered in circled places and mysterious numbers. They set out across New Mexico to find out whether those numbers are still true, and encounter many other odd, interesting, and humorous situations along the way.
Seeking: 3 leads, ages 18+, who can play a bit younger (high-school age), mixed gender group. The three are warm, funny friends with natural chemistry. They talk through the math on camera and as VO, but no math background is needed. New Mexico locals strongly preferred. Names will be determined after casting, but roles are the DRIVER - requires a drivers license and ability to drive a 1973 Suburban for short distances. The JOURNALER - carries a journal, loves to scribble and draw their journey. The PHOTOGRAPHER likes to document their experiences with their camera phone - although the trio has agreed to use only the old school paper maps to navigate. Skateboarding capabilities a plus for one character. A knack for physical comedy, expressiveness, and good humor is a perfect for this role. This is not a drama - the cheese factor is high.
