A Pipeline To Post
828 Productions hires graduates of NMSU and DACC
Las Cruces, NM — 828 Productions has begun filling post-production positions at its southern New Mexico headquarters. “We’re excited about the growth potential in the post-production segment here in Las Cruces,” said Todd Lundbohm, CEO of 828 Productions. “We’re looking to fill a dozen positions by the end of Q2, with new positions being added each quarter thereafter.”
Recognizing the genuine need to develop entry-level post-production positions for graduates of New Mexico State University and Doña Ana Community College, Lundbohm and 828 Executives Gerard Muñoz and Rajeev Nirmalakhandan developed this primary initiative.
“828 brought more than $100,000,000 in production spend to New Mexico in 2024. While we remain focused on bringing new productions to the State, we need to ensure that we’re servicing the post side of things too, and we are doing that right here in Las Cruces,” said Lundbohm.
As 828 Productions continues to build a post-production pipeline out of southern New Mexico, this opportunity for NMSU and DACC graduates provides career growth not previously available in the region.
Muñoz, who was one of the first students at DACC’s Creative Media Technology department, added, “I feel like Las Cruces is taking the right steps by combining education and industry as a formula for growth.”
With a focus on creating opportunities to work on real-world projects, this local initiative is equipping them with the confidence and mentorship to succeed in the competitive film and digital media industry.
"It's incredible to see the evolution in their skills," said Rajeev Nirmalakhandan, also a writer, director, and professor. "They're picking up new techniques, collaborating effectively with teams, and embracing constructive feedback.”
DACC and NMSU have been providing students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the competitive film industry. However, until recently, many graduates were forced to leave Las Cruces to pursue their careers – even more so within the post-production field. This initiative aims to lower the barrier of entry for local talent.
“I hope that my journey from an NMSU graduate to a post-production editor will inspire other students to be willing to step out of their comfort zone, take opportunities, and enter the industry,” said Georgia Townsend, one of the new editors recently hired at 828 Productions.
828 Productions is currently seeking additional resumes for this post-production team. If you would like to apply, please email info@828productions.com. We encourage graduates and current students at NMSU and DACC to apply
