Through free monthly gatherings across Albuquerque, Sanctuary Cinema provides screenings, panels and audience conversations.
Sanctuary Cinema, in collaboration with the city of Albuquerque and High Desert Playback, will host a community film screening of "HUMMINGBIRDS" and "WHO I AM NOT" at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at Fusion, 700-708 1st St. NW in Albuquerque.
"HUMMINGBIRDS" by Estefanía Contreras & Silvia Del Carmen Castaños, tells the story of Silvia and Beba, who transform their hometown on the Texas-Mexico border into a wonderland of creative expression and activist hijinks.
"WHO I AM NOT" is directed by Tünde Skovrán & Skovran Tunde. It tells the story about two South African intersex
people trying to find out what or who determines which gender they should consider themselves to be.
The event is free.
In October, Sanctuary Cinema will work with the inaugural Sovereign Lens Film Festival, a three-day short film festival
rooted in the same belief that stories can shift culture and strengthen community.
