"Land With No Rider" tells a story of the evolution of New Mexico ranchers. The feature film recently made the rounds with screenings around New Mexico.
Directed by Tamar Lando, the documentary was shot over 10 years in New Mexico’s Mimbres Valley.
The film follows four weathered New Mexico cowboys, as they eke out a fragile existence in a world of isolation and rugged beauty.
Forced to contend with an epic drought that devastated much of the American West, some of these old-timers are seeing their world disappear on them. The film looks beyond the hyper-masculine cowboy icon of Western movies and instead focuses on the men's intimacy with the natural world.
