New Mexico Film Office announces post-production of the documentary film "Madre Ceiba"
Short film humanizes the biodiversity crisis.

The New Mexico Film Office announced today that post-production of the film “Madre Ceiba” will be completed in Albuquerque and Santa Fe through April.

In “Madre Ceiba," Encar Vila, co-founder of the Jaguar Rescue Center, sets the tone, mirroring the jungle she fights to protect. Human encroachment threatens the primary forest, "La Ceiba," where Encar and her community are guardians. The narrative isn't just about animals; it's about people. Indigenous leaders, Afro-Caribbean entrepreneurs, and park rangers — all voices weaving a region's tapestry in flux.

Sylvia Johnson (“Roaming Wild”) will direct and produce the film, which will employ approximately three New Mexico crew members.

"We recognize that post-production is a vital component of filmmaking, and our incentives reflect that,” Steve Graham, director of the New Mexico Film Office, said. “By attracting post-production work to New Mexico, we are enhancing our industry's capabilities and providing valuable training and career pathways for our local talent."
