New Mexico Talent Takes Center Stage in Kevin A. Morrison’s Latest Albuquerque-Based Feature

In the heart of Albuquerque, a documentary crew is capturing a 10th-anniversary celebration that is quickly spiraling into a comedy of errors. But while the misadventures on-screen are scripted, the economic impact off-screen is very real.

“Hucksters,” the latest feature film from Director Kevin A. Morrison wrapped production in March in Albuquerque. The project focused on New Mexico’s talent as the production hired over 45 New Mexicans, including 12 crew members and 37 local principal actors.

“In New Mexico, we don’t just provide the backdrop; we provide the soul of the story,” said Steve Graham, director of the New Mexico Film Office. “Seeing 37 of our local actors cast in principal roles is a testament to the world-class talent pool we’ve cultivated here.”

Produced by the husband-and-wife team of Kevin A. Morrison and Audrey Morrison — the creative force behind the award-winning New Mexico short “Normal Rockwell” and Daniel Pattison's “My Brother's Bike”— the film follows Mae Olsen as she hires a documentary crew to celebrate her digital media marketing firm’s tenth anniversary, only to find herself at the center of a hilarious series of misadventures.

The production features a roster of New Mexico-heavy talent, including Shelley Holt (“Pulse”), Brendan Healy (“Chicago P.D.”), Audrey Morrison (“The Curse”), Naomi Grossman (“American Horror Story”), Melissa Chambers (“Dark Winds”), and Brendan Fehr (“Roswell”).

The Morrison’s decision to bring this latest project to Albuquerque underscores the stability, ease of business, and creative excellence that define the New Mexico film ecosystem.
