Coyote's Blessing

Production Announcement

Short film, 'Coyote's Blessing,' wraps production in Santa Clara Pueblo

SANTA FE - The Indigenous short film Coyote’s Blessing wrapped production in Santa Clara Pueblo on April 11, 2026.

Filmed entirely on Santa Clara Pueblo, the production sought to authentically capture the natural beauty and cultural landscape of Northern New Mexico. The film follows a trickster desert coyote, a character inspired by both the animal itself and the spiritual figure found throughout many Native traditions, blending Indigenous storytelling with the region’s natural and cultural landscape.

Coyote’s Blessing is directed by Darla M. Jones, who also serves as producer alongside John KD Graham.

The cast includes Kolin Dayish, Kody Dayish, Avaya Jones, Andrew Thomas, Christopher Crazy Bull and Jill Straits.

Production took place over five days and employed six New Mexico principal actors and three New Mexico crew members.

“Our stories are medicine,” the producing team shared when reflecting on the project’s vision and purpose.

The film is funded by Vision Maker Media, with final release and premiere anticipated in January 2027.
