Our Land, Our Future

Production Announcement

Docuseries ‘Our Land, Our Future’ filmed in New Mexico

The docuseries “Our Land, Our Future” filmed in New Mexico.

The series is a long‑form documentary series by filmmaker and climate educator Sara Lopez,
exploring Indigenous‑led conservation, land memory, and climate justice across the Americas.

The production employed one New Mexico crew member and Lopez is directing.

Founded and directed by Lopez, “Our Land, Our Future” is the first chapter in a planned
multi‑chapter series tracing biocultural corridors and Indigenous‑led conservation efforts from the rainforests of southern Mexico to the Atlantic Forest of Brazil, the Apache Nation in the United States, and beyond.

Each chapter follows a different community and ecosystem, weaving local stories of land, history and survival into a broader narrative about climate change, cultural resilience and environmental stewardship. The series reframes conservation as a lived relationship between people and place, rather than an abstract scientific concept.
