Tina Fey, Colman Domingo-led ‘The Four Seasons’ to film in Santa Fe

SANTA FE — There are many seasons to life — and Universal Television’s Emmy-nominated “The Four Seasons” will film one of those seasons in an episode in Santa Fe this week.

Filming for the third season will take place from Sept. 14 through Sept. 19, in and around Santa Fe. The production will employ 165 New Mexico crew members, 12 New Mexico principal actors and approximately 250 New Mexico background actors.

The series centers on three middle-aged couples: Kate and Jack, Nick and Anne and Danny and Claude. The couples take quarterly vacations together, but their relationships are tested when Nick divorces Anne and begins dating a much younger woman, Ginny. The show explores themes of aging, fidelity, grief and evolving friendships.

Tina Fey is part of the ensemble cast, which also includes Will Forte, Colman Domingo, Kerry Kenney-Silver, Marco Calvani and Erika Henningsen.

Fey is known for creating “30 Rock” and writing and performing on “Saturday Night Live.” She returns to New Mexico after filming “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” in 2015 and a handful of other projects after that. Forte most recently filmed “Coyote vs. Acme” in Albuquerque and Domingo has been nominated twice for an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

“Having a series like ‘The Four Seasons’ film in New Mexico speaks to how the state complements compelling storytelling,” said Steve Graham, New Mexico Film Office director. “One of our goals is to get filmmakers to return and this is a great example of working with our film partners.”

The episode will be directed by Tracey Wigfield, who has written for “30 Rock” and was the showrunner for “Great News.”

Fey serves as one of the executive producers, alongside Tracey Wigfield, Lang Fisher, Eric Gurian, Jeff Richmond and David Miner.

Fey said the nature of “The Four Seasons” is so much about the characters, their relationships and the rapport they have with each other.

“’The Four Seasons’ is a fantastic addition to Santa Fe’s long and celebrated film history,” said Jennifer LaBar Tapia, Santa Fe Film Office film commissioner. “Productions like this recognize the value of our extraordinary locations, world-class crew and film-friendly community. We’re thrilled to welcome the production and proud to see Santa Fe continue to shine on the global screen.”

Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, produces the series; it streams on Netflix, which has both seasons available.
