New Mexico Film Office Announces Feature Film “She Rides Shotgun” from FIFTH SEASON Is Currently Filming in New Mexico

Santa Fe, N.M. - New Mexico Film Office Director Amber Dodson announced today that FIFTH SEASON’s feature film, “She Rides Shotgun,” is currently filming in and around Albuquerque and Zia Pueblo.

The production is employing over 400 New Mexicans – 62 crew members, 20 principal actors, and 255 background talent. Expected to wrap soon, “She Rides Shotgun” is based on a novel by Jordan Harper, directed by Nick Rowland (“Calm with Horses,” “Floodlights”), and written by Harper with revisions by Ben Collins, Luke Piotrowski, (“The Night House,” “Hellraiser”), and Rowland. Taron Egerton (“Tetris”) stars along with Ana Sophia Heger (“Things Heard & Seen”), Rob Yang ("Succession," “The Menu”), John Carroll Lynch (“The Trial of the Chicago Seven”), Odessa A'zion (“Sitting in Bars with Cake,” “Fresh Kills,” “Grand Army”), and David Lyons ("Truth Be Told").

The storyline follows Nate (Egerton), who, after years in prison, has made some dangerous enemies, including the powerful criminal gang he worked for on the inside. Desperate for a fresh start, Nate cuts ties with his old crew upon his release from prison, but the gang retaliates by putting a hit on his family. Nate picks up Polly, his shy eleven-year-old daughter he hardly knows and goes on the run to keep her out of harm’s way. As they attempt to stay off the radar, it becomes clear that their enemies are relentless and won’t give up easily. Nate teaches Polly how to survive and watches her transform from a timid little girl into a force to be reckoned with. Nate, in turn, learns what it is to love unconditionally as he bonds with his daughter and battles for their future.

FIFTH SEASON fully financed and produced the film alongside Brad Weston (“Queen & Slim,” “One Thousand and One”) and Collin Creighton (“Okja,” “Marco Polo”) for Makeready and Hiro Murai and Nate Matteson (“The Bear,” “Station Eleven”) for Superfrog. Ken Kao and Josh Rosenbaum of Waypoint Entertainment (“The Favourite,” “Cuckoo”) and Marsha Swinton (“X-Men Origins: Wolverine”) will executive produce alongside Egerton.
