“The Reel NM” is a long-form documentary series that follows a producer’s real-time effort to build a film and television production operation in New Mexico after relocating his business in reliance on the state’s incentive program. Rather than focusing on finished projects, the series documents the operational realities that occur before production begins, including financing, infrastructure development, workforce readiness, and coordination among private investors, lenders, and public agencies. Through ongoing productions and studio development, the series examines how administrative decisions, regulatory interpretation, and timing impact budgets, capital flow, and project viability, ultimately providing a multi-year observational record of the challenges and complexities involved in establishing a sustainable film industry presence in the state.
The project is directed by, produced by and stars Todd Lundbohm.
