Untitled Hybrid Feature Film

Production Announcement

Hybrid feature film wraps production in Magdalena,
capturing real stories across New Mexico

Production employs more than 50 New Mexicans and films in active community settings

An untitled hybrid feature film has wrapped production in and around Magdalena, employing more than 50 New Mexicans.

Filming took place on active locations, including Magdalena’s Frontier Days celebration, allowing the project to unfold within the community’s everyday rhythm. The production also cast individuals for their natural personalities and lived experience, grounding the film in realism. The film was directed by Trent Haaga (68 Kill, Deathcember, Chop) and produced by Erica Steele (Big Kill, Don’t Kill It), with filming taking place in August.

“We are so happy to be filming in New Mexico, which itself inspired the project,” said Producer Michael Gottwald.

“New Mexico’s landscapes offer filmmakers a wide range of authentic settings,” said Steve Graham, director of the New Mexico Film Office. “Projects like this support local communities while highlighting the stories found across our state.”

The project reflects continued production activity in rural New Mexico, demonstrating how filmmaking supports local economies while expanding opportunities for communities across the state.
