New Mexico Film Office announces documentary film “Dead Calm” wraps filming in New Mexico
Santa Fe, N.M. - The New Mexico Film Office announced today that the documentary film, “Dead Calm,” wrapped production filmed in part in and around Albuquerque. Post-production work has already begun and will also be completed in New Mexico.
"Dead Calm” was directed by Scott Hussion, best known for his 2018 Netflix horror film “14 Cameras,” and produced by Hussion, Bill Stengel, and Jordyn Romero. The documentary tells the gripping story of New Mexico balloonists Ben Abruzzo and Maxie Anderson. The film follows these pioneers as they face incredible challenges and defy death, not once, but twice, in their quest to become the first to cross the Atlantic Ocean by balloon.
“It's thrilling to share this incredible story about two New Mexicans, and even more remarkable that it's being brought to life by fellow New Mexicans,” Hussion stated.
The production employed over 5 New Mexicans, including 7 crew members.
