New Mexico Film Office announces production of documentary film "Mike’s Journey"
The short film shares the inspiring story of disabled athlete Mike Adams
The New Mexico Film Office announced today that the production of the powerful film, “Mike’s Journey,” wrapped filming in Santa Fe in February.
“Mike’s Journey" tells the story of Mike Adams and his discovery of new passions and possibilities in adaptive sports after a life-altering injury. The film follows him as he embraces rock climbing and downhill skiing, showcasing his determination and resilience. "Mike’s Journey" also highlights the crucial role of the Adaptive Sports Program of New Mexico in empowering disabled youth and veterans through recreational sports.
The film, directed and produced by Alexandra Henry (“Street Heroines”), will employ approximately six New Mexico crew members.
“Each year disabled youth and veterans get out on the slopes undeterred by injuries that have altered their life in one way or another,” Henry said. “It’s incredible to get to tell their stories of resilience and inspire others.”
"’Mike’s Journey’ showcases the power of adaptive sports and the resilience of the human spirit," Steve Graham, director of the New Mexico Film Office, said. "We're proud to support this production and its message of inclusion and empowerment. We're also excited to highlight the work of the Adaptive Sports Program of New Mexico and the incredible opportunities they provide for disabled athletes in our state."
