Production Announcement

The feature film “Texas Man & Whisper Girl” wrapped up production in Las Cruces, where it employed over 100 New Mexicans.

The production filmed during the month of March in Las Cruces.

The feature film tells the story of a grieving East Texas widower on the brink of suicide, who finds unexpected solace through an autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) YouTuber, leading to a road trip that forces him to confront loss, generational wounds, and the possibility of connection in a changing world.

The production employed 50 New Mexico background/extras, 40 New Mexico crewmembers and 12 New Mexico principal actors.

The project is directed by Blair Hays ("Bubble Boy", "Deadly Detention, "Great Plains") and produced by Don Worley ("Pastor Shepherd", "Time for Sunset", "Mandate"). The duo hopes to highlight the ASMR industry with the project.

“(This project is) a moving drama about parent child relationships and loneliness,” Hays and Worley said in a statement.

“Independent films are the backbone to the state’s film industry,” said Steve Graham, New Mexico Film Office director. “With ‘Texas Man & Whisper Girl,’ the production was able to utilize the state’s Rural Uplift incentive, which brought work to the southern part of the state.”
